NATURE TRAIL

The 2,5 kilometre nature study trail of Treis Elies is located at the north part of the community towards the Kaminaria village road, and it is part of the trail that used to connect Paphos with the area of Morphou.
During spring time you can enjoy the violets, cyclamens and other varieties of seasonal plants. Along the course of the trail there are over 30 kinds of plants of great biological importance. Some of the trees, plants and bushes which can be found at the trail are the Calabrian pine, Pomegranate, Cherry tree, Persian Walnut, Oak tree, Oriental Plane, Almond tree, Olive tree, Oriental Alder, Common Fig tree, Bracken, Maple tree, Laurel, Ivy, Rock-Rose, Terebinth, Easter Strawberry tree, Grape tree, Spring Burnet, Kermes Oak and others.
Alongside the unique natural beauty, there are historical, religious and geomorphologic co existent elements. Its course is parallel with that of the river. The changes in scenery in combination with the above make it one of the most unique trails of our country.
The area of “Vathis” (Deep) is the starting point of the trail and moving along forward we come across the Venetian bridge of Treis Elies. After that we find the ruins of the Ayios Andronikos temple and right after that we reach the 2nd Venetian bridge of Mylos. Here is where the Kryos River joins with the Treis Elies River, also known as the Dragon. Moving along we reach a viewing point where we get an incredible view of the surrounding mountains. The “Kremmos” of Kato Mylos follows where according to local tradition Ayios Georgios (Saint George) killed the plague which was ravaging the area. Moving further along we end up at the “Orpolis” location which is also the last part of the trail. From here on it is connected with the European trail E4.
Along the entire distance of the trail there are signs which state the names of the trees, plants and bushes. There are also wooden benches with a view to the surrounding mountains and the river which the visitor has the chance to sit and rest enjoying a unique natural environment where the singing of the birds, the crickets and the sound of the water running down the river offer a unique optical and visual pleasure.
During the inauguration of the trail the former Minister of Transportation and Works Mr. Charis Thrasou said: “ Whoever feels stressed should walk down the Nature Trail of Treis Elies to enjoy the route and relax.”

The materialisation of the construction was made by 80% European Union funding and the technical support of the Ministry of Agriculture and especially the Forrest Department.
